8. Colorful Yarn Wrapped Letters
Displaying the age or initials of the birthday child adds a personalized decorative touch to the dessert table or photo backdrop. Cut large block letters out of thick cardboard, foam core boards, or purchase papier-mâché letters from a craft retailer. Select two or three rolls of colorful yarn, twine, or embroidery thread in colors that complement your party theme. Secure the end of the yarn to the back of the letter using a dab of hot glue or tape. Begin wrapping the yarn tightly around the letter, overlapping the strands so no cardboard remains visible beneath. You can switch yarn colors midway to create striking striped patterns or ombré gradients. Once the entire letter is wrapped neatly, secure the final end with another dab of glue on the back.
