8. Upcycled Keepsake Memory Board

The first year of a baby’s life goes by in a blur of doctor appointments, milestone cards, and sweet photographs. A custom-made fabric memory board offers the new mom a beautiful and organized way to display birth announcements, hospital bands, ultrasound pictures, and early portraits without damaging them with pins or tape.
To build this, take a sturdy piece of plywood or a heavy canvas frame and wrap it in a layer of soft quilt batting. Cover the batting with a high-quality fabric, such as linen or canvas, securing it tightly to the back with a staple gun. Next, stretch decorative ribbons diagonally across the board in a diamond pattern, securing the intersections with matching upholstery tacks or fabric-covered buttons. The tension of the ribbons allows the mom to easily slip photos and paper mementos underneath, creating an ever-changing, functional piece of wall art for the nursery.
